This is a piece titled "Inspired." Its a piece with Kofie that he did in LA. Hope I get to see it while I'm out there. On the disappointing side of the spectrum, El Mac was featured in a show that ended last weekend called "New Masters" at Subliminal Projects on Sunset. I don't know how many pieces he had in the show but the piece that he posted on his blog "The Prayer" is fuckin ridiculous.
Ok so now its been some 8 months since I've put up anything. Since then I have finished up all of the requirements for Medical School and am now trying to get a little bit of a better score on my MCAT to assure my acceptance, which will hopefully be this coming summer and or following fall. Other than that I went to South America, gained 15 pounds, lost it, took up golf full swing and have slowed down the pace of my life a good bit when it comes to skating, but I'm gonna get back on it. But I can finally see myself approaching some much needed new adventures in life so that is good. Just gotta stick with it.
And quite possibly one of my new favorite pros. I don't wanna jinx him but he has the style and go for it type of mentality, or so it appears in his video parts, that will make him a legendary and hopefully a long lasting pro. Keep doin it man.
So it has been a while since I last spun in a club, but today i have the opportunity to rise up again from the ashes of my shithole career as a dj and just have some fun. I got into it cause it looked like a lot of fun, especially battling. Now some 15 years later I still love it like the day that I got my first mixer and turntable. I've gone through a lot of musical changes and in all sincerity if you had played some of the stuff I am listening to now for me back then, I would have called it lame as fuck. But I was a bit more closed minded and in hip hop especially when you are battlin you gotta have a front. But all in all I hope shit goes well I hope I get some photos and shit or at least a sound bite or somethin. One way or another should be fun, and a good way to get a couple of free beers.
I have had a wonderful time livin in CA for the last 7 years and it has benefited me much. It has also cost a lot. But all in all I know that I am walkin away from this state a better person than I was when I came to it. And for that CA I thank you. On Friday I begin my own odyssey back to WV. I imagine it will be a lot easier than the mythic adventure, although I do have to ride back from Columbus so maybe there will be some adventure there, but I doubt it.
In all this bittersweet homecoming is a step in the right direction and hopefully a year from today I will post my acceptance into Med School. Until then I will be commenting on the skate scene in WV, the Mountaineers, DC nightlife, and random trips to NY. Hopefully all accompanied by video and photo documentation.
Lastly I just want to say thanks to all the people who have made my experience out here so wonderful. Everyone I skated with, minus a couple you know who you are and we'll run into each other one day, everyone I had a nice drink and conversation with, and just everyone I've met. An especially huge thanks and I love you to my girlfriend, who brought me out of a really shitty period of my life and supported me to no end. I will be leaving her here but not behind me. I'll be counting the days until we are living together again.
In all sincerity I wanted this blog shit to work out just as a means of getting me motivated creativity wise. But I fucked up and got a shit hole job and pretty much let that shit demotivate me completely. Now I hope that that won't happen again.
